Narita & Haneda → ski country

International flights land at Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND). Neither is next to the mountains — plan an explicit airport → Tokyo → resort chain (or a seasonal direct ski bus if it matches your destination and dates).

  • Haneda: faster into central Tokyo; often better for same-day train connections if you land early and clear customs quickly.
  • Narita: farther out (Narita Express or Skyliner to Tokyo); many crews overnight in Tokyo after an afternoon landing.
  • Ski bags: airlines vary on fees and weight — sync with the group before booking. Trains work with one bag each; oversized loads favor bus or van.
  • Direct ski buses: some seasons run airport or Tokyo-area services to Hakuba, Nagano, or other hubs — verify operators each winter; they sell out around New Year.

The smoothest arrivals pick one hub meeting point (hotel lobby or major station exit) before anyone disappears into different train cars.
