Tokyo → Hakuba
Most crews route Tokyo → Hakuba via Nagano on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, then a bus or train to the valley (often Shinano-Omachi or Hakuba Station area). Total travel commonly lands around 3.5–5 hours door-to-base depending on connections and season traffic.
- Train + bus: predictable schedules; good when you have JR Pass or reserved seats and moderate luggage.
- Direct highway bus from Tokyo: fewer transfers with ski bags; can be slower in snow traffic but mentally simpler.
- Timing: if you land internationally the same morning, consider a Tokyo night first — rushing to Hakuba exhausted costs you day-one riding.
Think in three legs: airport or hotel → Tokyo hub → Nagano → Hakuba base. Delays cluster on the last mountain leg in winter.
